A manual RWD 545, without the M appearance package. And it’s brown,
Some one very Oppo has to have custom ordered that, because there’s no way a dealer had that on their lot.
HOLY CRAP 87.000 miles! I was expecting 187,000 for the money.
Hurry up and buy it before some investor grabs it,stores it for a year and puts it on BaT.

The tiny flower decal means you can’t trust it.

I mean... repair bills? V8, manual midsize sport sedan from G ermany... the downsides are fuel economy and repair cost...If you’re prepared for those, it sure does look like a reasonable purchase. Looks clean and straight and a little drool-worthy.

That a nice discreet sticker. I’d say that even more reason to buy it.
Some one cares about their car enough to want to put a sticker on it, to personalize it. But also shows restraint, and didn’t put it on the paint.

If there is no catch its really interesting, the kind of thing that i would buy (i can overlook the terrible beige plastic at this price point ) :)

BMW has made some good V8s. This isn’t really one of them, unless you like replacing valve stem seals

Looks brand new, not like a 16 year old car.

Have they? I was just gonna comment the only BMW V8 possibly worth the trouble over one of their I-6s is the E90 M3's.

You’re...kidding? You’re not kidding. Um.
The E60 is my least favorite of the 5s, though the N62 is okay. I think it’s overpriced by about $2-3k, but I’m on the other side of the country where they’re not that desirable.

The M60B40 is a genuinely good engine that undeservedly
catches all the timing chain
flak of the B44. The S65 may be a maintenance hog as well, but I think qualifies as good in the same way that maintenance hog Italian V8s do. Plus the 1950s/60s pushrod V8 which I haven’t heard anything bad about.

It seems like most of the issues with the valve guides was caused by the asinine intervals BMW recommended. If the oil was changed every 5k, you should be good. A neighbor had one for years, like ~8 years , it was done in by the SMG.

Mine hasn’t been awful. I am going to do the rod bearings at some point for peace of mind.

So then, when do you pick it up?

If its so nice, whyever they are selling is the reason you should not be buying

I know it’s not rod bearings, but didn’t you have to replace all or most of the throttle actuators?

Jan 2021 at the earliest, I'd say...

i really want a 550i w/ sport pkg (and hte active suspension) and stick. I had an 07 auto and it was a joy. that being said, expect to spend that much on repairs/oil every year haha. Source: have owned two e60s

There’s two and they’ve both been replaced; that being the only thing I’ve had to do to the car really apart from normal maintenance .

Plus ten years old... ‘ looks at broken 2009 S8’.... yeah go for it. What’s the worst that could happen?

Ah I remembered wrong. That’s pretty damn good then
